Explore ~ Discover ~ Experience
Papermaking is a sustainable art process and is a transformative experience.
You literally turn plant fiber into pulp, pulp into paper, paper into unlimited art objects and craft.
Available Classes
Paper-making & Pulp-painting
Transform natural fibers and plants from pulp to paper! If you're new to papermaking learn the basic techniques of Western-style hand papermaking, including pulp preparation, sheet forming, couching, pressing, and drying.
Printmaking
The transfer of ink from one surface to another is printmaking! Lunar Horizons can offer workshops in monotype , relief and dry point etching. Each lesson includes demonstrations in each technique, explanations on paper properties, inks, tools, proper use of a printing press and studio etiquette. We use non-toxic inks and cleaning supplies. Professional artists are welcome to rent the press and bring their preferred inks and material.
Book arts
For those who are new to binding, we will cover all the basics, including appropriate materials and tools, qualities of paper, and the different properties of various adhesives. A typical introduction course will include a variety of structures such as a pamphlet stitch, accordion, and a Japanese stab binding. You will be able to leave with several binding styles under your belt, and the knowledge of how to adapt these three structures to make your own.
